1.  Introduction
Your Contec Model RT-M1000+TV remote control is simple to program, easy to use, and can operate up to two (2) electronic devices which include:
  • CABLE - Motorola DCT Cable set-top converters
  • TV - Televisions

Some of the special features on the Contec Model RT-M100+TV remote control are:

  1. Point and Press ® Programming
    Lets you program your TV device without using codes, For more information, refer to these two sections:
    1. Point and Press Programming
    2. Helpful Tips and Troubleshooting.
  2. Time Out
    Shuts remote off if any button is pressed and held for over 45 seconds. This extends battery life in the event the remote becomes lodged under or between heavy objects.

 

2.  Installing / Replacing Batteries
Install two (2) new "AAA" batteries as indicated by the diagram in the battery compartment. Be careful to properly match the "+ / -" ends of the batteries with the diagram in the battery compartment.

When the batteries become too weak to operate the remote control properly and need to be replaced, the LED will become dim or not illuminate at all during use. When this happens, install 2 new "AAA" size batteries.

 

3.  Programming Your Cable Converter

To program (setup) the remote to operate your Cable Converter...

  1. Turn on your Cable Converter.
  2. Press [OK], then [MUTE] together - hold both buttons down until the LED light illuminates:
  3. From the Cable Converter Setup Code list below, locate and enter the 3-digit code for your brand. Entry of the correct code will cause your TV to turn off. 
    NOTE: If multiple codes are listed, you may have to enter several 3-digit codes until your Converter turns off.

  4. Press [MUTE]. If your Converter turns back on, press [OK] to lock in the code. The LED light will blink and go out.
  5. If your Converter does not turn back on, repeat steps 3 and 4 until you can turn your Converter off and on.

Write your setup code for future reference.

 

4.  Programming Your TV
If you have a TV operated by remote control, it is recommended that you plug it directly into a wall outlet instead of the cable converter.

To program (setup) the remote to operate your TV...

  1. Turn on your TV.
  2. Press [OK], then [MUTE] together - hold both buttons down until the LED light illuminates:
  3. From the TV Setup Code list below, locate and enter the 3-digit code for your brand. Entry of the correct code will cause your TV to turn off. 
    NOTE: If multiple codes are listed, you may have to enter several 3-digit codes until your TV turns off.

  4. Press [MUTE]. If your TV turns back on, press [OK] to lock in the code. The LED light will blink and go out.
    • If your TV does not turn back on, repeat steps 3 and 4 until you can turn your TV off and on.
  5. Try the [VOL UP], [VOL DOWN] and [MUTE] buttons to make sure the proper code for this model was locked in. If [VOL UP], [VOL DOWN] and/or [MUTE] do not work, repeat steps 1-4 using a different setup code.

Write your TV brand & setup code for future reference.

 

5Point and Press ® Programming
This method allows you to program the remote control WITHOUT using CODES. Instead, the remote control will actually find the device you are trying to set by looking through it's code library until it finds the correct code for your device. You then lock in the correct code as described below.

The following instructions describe how to program your remote control using the [CH UP] and  [CH DOWN] buttons. (These buttons function as "power" during programming). You may also program your remote control using other buttons/functions as described in this section . When using this method, there are several points to remember:

  • It may take several minutes for the remote control to find the proper code.
                    
  • Once you lock in a code, be sure to check all available functions for that device. For example:
    • For TV try the [VOL UP], [VOL DOWN] and [MUTE]


 

6.  Programming Your TV using Point and Press ® Programming
If you have never used Point and Press ® Programming, please refer to the Point and Press Programming section of this manual first before proceeding.

To program (setup) the remote to operate your TV...

  1. Turn on your TV.
  2. Press [OK], then [MUTE] together - hold both buttons down until the LED light illuminates.
  3. Press and hold the [CH UP] button until the TV turns off. While you are pressing the [CH UP] button, the LED will blink. As soon as the TV turns off, release the [CH UP] button. It may take a few minutes for the remote to find the proper code for your TV. Please be patient, and be ready to release the  [CH UP] button when the device turns off:
  4. Press [MUTE]. If your TV turns back on, press [OK] to lock in the code. The LED light will blink and go out.

    Or..
    If your TV does not run back on, try pressing [CH DOWN] one step at a time until that device turns back on. Each time you press the [CH DOWN] button, the LED light will blink.
  5. Once you have found the proper code, press [OK]  to lock in the code.

 

7. Operating in CABLE Mode
Your remote control is designed to operate all the features and functions of your advanced cable converter.
Pressing : Turns converter on / off.
Pressing : Turns TV on / off.
Pressing [0] - [9]: Allows you to jump to the desired channel on the converter.
Pressing : Displays on-screen features, options. 
Pressing : Displays on-screen listing of programs by date, time, channel.
Pressing : Displays channel, time information. Press TWICE to browse channels
Pressing : Direct access to PPV programming
Pressing redday.jpg (1609 bytes): Shows previous / next day in view guide.
Pressing  : Navigates on-screen menus, program guide, PPV events and interactive services.

Also controls VOD playback. [UP] is Play/Pause, [LEFT] is Rewind, [RIGHT] is Fast Fwd, [DOWN] is Stop

Pressing : Selects menu option, program PPV events and function options.
Pressing : Pages up / down through menus, view guide.
Pressing : When in the interactive guide, choose "Favorite channels" from the on-screen menu. Pressing the blue FAV button on a selected channel will add it to your list of favorite channels.

When out of the interactive guide, pressing FAV will scroll through your list of favorite channels that you stored through the interactive guide.

Pressing : Exits on-screen menus, view guide.
Pressing : Utilizes specific commands within IPG
Pressing : Utilizes specific commands within IPG
Pressing : Utilizes specific commands within IPG
Pressing : Currently non-functional for all other converters.
Pressing : Increases / decreases TV  volume.

Pressing : Displays last channel viewed. 
Pressing : Displays on-screen Video On Demand menu
Pressing : Increases / decreases converter  channel.

 

8.  Operating In TV Mode
Your remote control is designed to operate many functions of your TV.

To select your remote’s TV mode:

  1. Press the [TV] button. The LED will blink one time.
  2. Your remote will now be in TV mode.

The following buttons work the following ways in TV mode:

Pressing : Turns converter on / off.
Pressing : Turns TV on / off.
Pressing [0] - [9]: Allows you to jump to the desired channel on the converter.
Pressing : Operates TV's on-screen menu

NOTE: this function may not work for all TVs

9.  Programming Volume Control
By default, your Volume is controlled through your TV.

To program Volume control to your cable set-top converter:

  1. Press [CBL], and press [OK] together until the LED illuminates.
  2. Press [VOL UP], then [CABLE] for Cable Volume.
  3. The LED will blink and go out.

To program Volume control back to your TV:

  1. Press [CBL] and [OK] together until the LED illuminates.
  2. Press [VOL UP], then TV for TV Volume.
  3. The LED will blink and go out.

 

10. Resetting Your Remote Control
To reset your remote to its factory default setting, follow these steps:
  1. Press [CBL] and [OK] together until the LED illuminates
  2. Press [MENU], then [MENU] again. The LED will blink and go out.
11.  Additional Programming /Troubleshooting Information
  1. If the same button is pressed and held for more than 45 seconds, your remote control will turn itself off automatically. This extends the battery life should the remote become lodged under or between heavy objects, for example sofa cushions.
  2. If you have a TV that is operated by remote control, it is recommended that you plug it directly into a wall outlet instead of the cable set-top converter box.
  3. If you have any questions concerning the brand, model or operation of your cable set-top converter box, contact us.
  4. Low Battery Indication - when the batteries become low and need to be replaced, the LED button will not illuminate normally, or at all, during operation. To rectify, install 2 new "AAA" size batteries to restore normal operation to the remote control..
