Introduction
Connect to the local network to watch or download recordings from a TiVo device 
Resolution Steps


Use the RCN2GO app for iOS® devices

     

    Before you begin

      Before using the RCN2GO app, you'll need: 
      • iPad or iPhone is running iOS 7.0 or higher
      • Download the latest RCN2GO app from the iTunes App Store 
        • Always run the latest version, with no updates pending
        • Note: The app does not run on jailbroken iOS devices
      • Subscribe to RCN Cable
      • Connect your iOS device to Wi-Fi, on the same network as your TiVo box

     

    Setting up the TiVo app

      • Launch the RCN2GO app
      • Sign in to the app using your MyRCN username and password.
      • At first time launch of the TiVo app, a one-time set-up process searches the network for compatible TiVo DVRs
        • Select the DVR you want to use with the app

      • For 6 tuner TiVo and TiVo Stream, complete Streaming setup - 

        • In the Set up streaming device? dialog box, choose Start Setup

        • On the Streaming Setup screen, check Set up in-home streaming and ensure the User Agreement checkbox is checked

          • Out-of-home streaming setup is not supported

        • The Stream is automatically detected*, and start running through a series of checks  
          • Choose Done when complete
          • *If not, Tap the settings icon, and then tap TiVo Stream Setup



     

    What to Watch Now

      • What to Watch Now is the first screen shown when entering the app

      • This screen shows categories of shows that are on TV right now

      • Tap on an image to learn more: 

        • Watch the show 
        • Choose to record it 
        • View upcoming showings, or 
        • Explore the show further 
     

    The Info screen

      • This screen displays information about the show that's currently airing on your TiVo DVR
        •  As you change channels, the Info screen updates to reflect the new show 
      • You can do lots of things from the Info screen, including: 


        • Tap Watch Now to watch the show

           
          • With a Stream or 6 Tuner TiVo, the option to watch on the phone/tablet appears 
            • The show begins recording on the DVR, and then begins streaming to the phone/tablet. 

          • Without a Stream or 6 Tuner TiVo, watch the show on your TV

        • Tap WishList to create a WishList search for the show

        • Tap Explore the show to learn more about its cast and crew, or to see a list of shows you might also like

        • Tap Record to set up a single recording or a OnePass recording
          •  Or, if you already have a OnePass for a show, tap OnePass to change recording options

        • Tap Upcoming to view a list of upcoming episodes

        • Tap Get From to watch the show instantly on your TV if it's available from other sources (like Netflix or Hulu)

      • Reach the Info screen at any time by tapping the Info button (on a tablet) or by tapping the TiVo button and then choosing Info (on a phone)

      • Note: The Info screen is not available when away from your home network
     

    Finding, Exploring, and Recording shows

      • To search for a particular show 


        • Tap the Search window (on a tablet) or the Search icon (on a phone) at the top of the screen

        • As you enter the title of the show, a list of matches appears beneath the search window

        • Tap the best match to see options

        • Depending on the show
          • Watch it on your TV (if it's currently airing)
          • Record a single episode
          • Create a OnePass recording
          • Modify an existing OnePass
          • View upcoming episodes 
          • Find other video providers for the show, like Hulu or Netflix 
      • To browse the program guide

        • Tap Guide at the bottom of the screen (on a tablet), or tap the TiVo button and choose Guide (on a phone)

        • Scroll the guide up or down to view more listings

          • Search for particular channels by tapping at the top of the channel column

        • Find a show you like, tap to display information about it


          • Choose to watch it on your TV (if it's currently airing) 
          • Record it if it's airing now or at a later date
          • Explore it further
          • View upcoming episodes
          • To jump to a particular time, tap the date to bring up the date selector

          • Tap to find a particular channel (search by channel name or number)

      • To browse collections of related content


        • Tap Browse at the bottom of the screen (on a tablet), or tap the TiVo button and choose "Browse" (on a phone)

        • Menu of related Movies, TV or Sports content appears

         

     

    My Shows

      There are two tabs on the My Shows screen

      • To see TiVo DVR's My Shows folder list

        • Tap My Shows at the bottom of the screen (on a tablet), or tap the TiVo button and choose My Shows (on a phone)

        • Tap a show's title to view information and options

           
        • Watch the show on TV by tapping Watch now
        • Explore the show 
        • Get or modify a OnePass recording
        • View upcoming episodes
        • Delete the show from My Shows folder
      • Note: The My Shows list is not available when away from your home network
     

    Downloading recordings

      • To download shows, you must have a 6 Tuner TiVo or TiVo Stream

      • Tap My Shows

      • Tap the On DVR tab to view the DVR's My Shows list
      • Tap the title of the recording 

      • Tap Download

      • Choose a download quality, then tap Download with these options

      • Tap On iPad or On iPhone to see therecording added to the download queue

         
      • To delete a show


        • Tap the empty circle next to each show to delete,  then tap Delete
     

    Watching downloaded shows

      • Note: To download shows, you must have a TiVo Stream or 6 Tuner TiVo. 
      • To watch a downloaded show (even one that's still downloading):


        • Tap My Shows at the bottom of the screen

        • Tap On iPad or On iPhone

        • Downloaded shows appear at the bottom of the download queue (if any shows are in the queue)


          • Tap a show to view information about it
      • Choose Watch now then Watch on iPad/iPhone

      • If you uninstall the app or cancel the service, the downloads are deleted from your iPad/iPhone
     

    The remote control

      • To Use the Remote Control

        • Tap the remote control icon (on a tablet) or the Pause icon at the top right of the screen (on a phone)
        • Use the remote control buttons to navigate the TiVo menus and control playback
        • Tap Gestures (on a tablet) or the Gestures icon (on a phone) to show the gesture pad areas
        • Use touch-screen gestures to control video
        • To return to the remote control button view, tap "Buttons" (on a tablet) or the remote control icon (on a phone)

         
        • Note: The remote control is not available when away from your home network
     

    Managing your shows

      • Tap Manage at the bottome (on a tablet), or tap the TiVo button
      • Choose To Do List (on a phone)
      • Tap a show title to get information about it
        • Options to cancel the recording
        • Get or modify a One Pass request
        • View upcoming episodes
        • Explore the show
      • Tap OnePasses (on a tablet), or tap the TiVo button and choose OnePass Manager (on a phone)
      • To change the priority of OnePass requests
        • Press the menu button on your tablet/phone, tap Reorder 
        • Then, drag and drop your shows into the order you'd like
        • To get more information about a show, tap its title
      • Note: You can not manage your shows when away from your home network
     

    Changing your selected DVR

      • To connect to a different compatible TiVo DVR in your network
        • Tap the DVR name at the top left of your screen (on a tablet), or tap the TiVo button (on a phone)
        • Choose Selected DVR menu
        • Then select another DVR
     

    Changing settings & signing out

      • Tap the gear icon (on a tablet), or tap the TiVo button and choose Settings (on a phone)

      You'll see the following options:

      • TiVo account: Displays how you are signed in to the TiVo app. Tap "Sign Out" to sign out
      • Use Cellular Network: Choose whether to stream shows over the cellular network if Wi-Fi is not available. - Out of home streaming is not supported 
      • Setup: Set up streaming
      • System Information: Get information about devices on your network
      • Sound effects: Turn TiVo app sound effects on or off
      • Guide Channels: Choose which channels to display
      • Tooltips:  Helpful menu tips are shown in the app
      • About this app: Displays TiVo app information
      • Technical support: Links to tivo.com's support site
      • Terms of Use/Privacy Policy/Legal Notices: Read legal information about the app
      • Reset application: Reset the app to default settings.
 

Use the RCN2GO app for Android® tablets & phones

     

    Before you begin

      • Subscribe to RCN Cable

      • Connect an Android 4.1 or greater device to Wi-Fi, on the same network as the TiVo box

      • Enable  Network Remote Control setting on your TiVo
       

      Setting up the TiVo App

        • Download the TiVo App from Google Play. Tap it to launch the app

           

        • At first launch the TiVo App, the app searches the network for compatible TiVo DVRs

          • Select the DVR you want to use with the TiVo App

          • Sign in to the App using your MyRCN username and password 

          • For 6 tuner TiVo and TiVo Stream, complete Streaming setup 
            • In the Set up streaming device? dialog box, choose Start Setup

            • On the Streaming Setup screen, check Set up in-home streaming and ensure the User Agreement checkbox is checked

              • Out-of-home streaming setup is not supported

            • The Stream is automatically detected*, and start running through a series of checks. Choose Done when complete


       

      Streaming shows to your Android device

        Please note: Out-of-home streaming is not supported. You must be on the TiVo's home network to stream content from your DVR

        You must have a 6 Tuner DVR or a TiVo Stream to stream shows from your DVR Otherwise, only streaming provider content is available from the respective sites

        • To stream a recorded show to your device:
        • Tap My Shows at the bottom of the screen (on a tablet), or tap the TiVo button and choose "My Shows" (on a phone) 
        • Tap the title of show you want to watch to view information about it
        • Tap Watch Now, then choose Watch on Tablet/Phone
        • To stream live TV to your device:
        • Tap Guide at the bottom of the screen (on a tablet), or tap the TiVo button and choose Guide (on a phone) 
          • Scroll the guide columns up or down to view more listings
          • Use the numbers on the side of the screen to skip quickly to a range of channels
        • Choose a show that is currently airing, and tap the title to select it
        • Tap Watch Now, and then choose Watch on Tablet/Phone 
          • TiVo DVR starts recording the show and begin streaming to your mobile device immediately
       

      The Info Screen

        • Info screen displays information about the show that's currently airing on your TiVo DVR
          • As channels change, the Info screen updates to reflect the show 
        • From this screen: 

          • Tap Watch Now to watch the show
            • With a Stream or 6 Tuner TiVo, the option to watch the show on your phone/tablet appears
              • The show begins recording on your DVR, and then begin streaming to your phone/tablet
            • Without a Stream or 6 Tuner TiVo, you can watch the show on your TV

          • Tap WishList to create a WishList search for the show
          • Tap Explore the show to learn more about its cast and crew, or to see a list of shows you might also like
          • Tap Record to set up a single recording or a OnePass recording
            • Or, if you already have a OnePass for a show, tap OnePass to change recording options

            • Record it if it's airing now or at a later date
            • Explore it further
            • View upcoming episodes


          • To jump to a particular time, tap the date to bring up the date selector.

          • Tap to find a particular channel (you can search by channel name or number).

        • To browse collections of related content
          • Tap Browse at the bottom of the screen (on a tablet), or tap the TiVo button and choose "Browse" (on a phone).
          • Menu of related Movies, TV or Sports content appears

           

         

      Downloading recordings

        • Note: To download shows, you must have a 6 Tuner TiVo or TiVo Stream .
        • Tap the menu icon and choose My Shows
        • Tap the On DVR tab to view the DVR's My Shows list.
        • Tap the title of the recording 
        • Tap Download
        • Choose a download quality, then tap Download with these options
        • Tap On Tablet or On Phone to see your recording added to the download queue.  
        • To delete a show

      Watching downloaded shows

      Using the My Shows list

        • To see your TiVo DVR's My Shows folder list
        • Tap the menu icon and choose My Shows (on a tablet or phone).
        • Tap a show's title to view information and options. 
          • Watch the show on your TV by tapping Watch now
          • Explore the show, 
          • Get or modify a OnePass recording
          • View upcoming episodes
          • Delete the show from My Shows folder

        • Note: The My Shows list is not available if you are away from your home network.
       

      Managing your shows

        • Tap the menu icon and choose To Do List  
        • Tap a show title to get information about it. From there
          • Cancel the recording
          • Get or modify a One Pass request
          • View upcoming episodes
          • Explore the show
        • Tap the menu icon and choose OnePasses (on a tablet), or tap the TiVo button and choose OnePass Manager (on a phone).
        • To change the priority of OnePass requests, press the menu button on your tablet/phone, tap Reorder
          • Then, drag and drop your shows into order 
          • To get more information about a show, tap its title
        • Note: You can not manage your shows if you are away from your home network

    Use RCN2GO on a computer

       

      To get started

        RCN2GO can be accessed via the web at http://www.rcn2go.com/

        • Access using your MAC or PC, laptop or desktop
        • A MyRCN username and password are required to sign in
        • RCN2GO remembers your login for 15 days so you don’t have to login every time you access the site
        • RCN Cable TV Subscribers can use RCN2GO
          • Customers with TiVo DVRs can discover, view, and manage TV shows and recordings
          • Without a TiVo, customers get all the same programs, but will not be able to manage recordings from RCN2GO
       

      What to Watch Now

        • What to Watch Now is the first screen shown when entering the app

      Find and explore shows

        • Click the Search icon  at the top of the screen 
          • Enter the title of the show or name of the actor you're interested in
          • A list of matches will appear beneath the search window 
          • Click the best match to get more information about it

        • Depending on the show, options include:


          • Click Watch Now to watch the show on computer or to get the show from another source (like HBOGO or Netflix)

          • Click Get this show to set up a single recording or a OnePass on your DVR

          • Click Upcoming to see which episodes are coming up. When you find one you want to watch or record, tap the title for more options

          • If a show is not currently available to record, use the option WishList to set up a TiVo WishList search


            • Your DVR will automatically record the show the next time it appears on TV

        • Click the Guide link at the top of the screen to browse the program guide

        • Scroll the guide columns up or down to view more listings


          • You can also use the numbers on the side of the screen to skip quickly to a range of channels

          • When you find a show you like, click it to display information about it


            • If the show is currently airing, choose to watch it on your computer - with a TiVo Stream or 6 Tuner DVR 
            • Record it on your DVR (if it's airing now or at a later date), 
            • Explore it further
            • View upcoming episodes
       

      My Shows

        There are two tabs on the My Shows screen:
        • The Recordings tab lets you watch shows from your TiVo DVRs My Shows list, even if you're away from home
          • Away from home, the show must be available on the content providers website to view
        • Click My Shows, then Recordings


          • Click a show to view information about it. You can:


            • Watch the show on your Computer
            • Get or modify a OnePass
            • Delete the show from the My Shows list
            • View upcoming episodes and view episodes available for streaming
            • Explore the show
            • Choose "More" to set a show to Keep Until I Delete
            • Note: You can sort by date or by show title. Just click "Date" to sort by date, or "Name" to sort by title

        • The left column of the My Shows screen contains categories which group your shows together logically

        • Here are some of the more useful categories you can use to filter your programs:


          • All Shows: Shows all of the recordings and available streaming options on your DVR
          • Partially Watched: Did you have to stop your show before it finished? Pick up right where you left off with this category
          • TV Series, Movies, Sports, News, Kids, Suggestions
            • These categories mirror what is enabled on the DVR 
       

      Managing your shows

        • Manage your TiVo DVR's To Do List and OnePasses
        • Click Manage then  To Do List in the top toolbar

        • Click a show title to get information about it

           
          • Set up or cancel a recording
          • Get or modify a OnePass 
          • View upcoming episodes
          • Explore the show
          • Change recording options
          • and more
        • Cick Manage then OnePass Manager 


          • Select a OnePass to delete it or copy it to another DVR
          • Drag and Drop it to reorder its priority 
          • Modify OnePass options

        • Cick Manage then OnePass Quick Select


          • OnePass Quick Select is a listing a of many new and popular shows
             
          • Click on one to automatically create 

        • OnePass selections:
           
          • To edit your OnePass selections, go to the OnePass Manager
          • It may take a few minutes for your selections to appear in My Shows, the OnePass Manager, and the To Do List
       

      Changing your selected DVR

        • To connect to a different compatible TiVo DVR in your network

           
          • Click the menu with the currently-connected DVR at the top right of screen
          • Click to select another DVR
     

    Error Messages and Troubleshooting

      Cannot find the DVR

        • The DVR is not listed in your App for you to choose, or you get an error message: We did not find a TiVo DVR on your account

        • The TiVo servers are not recognizing the device and needs to be told about it

        • Sign out/in or force quit the app and re-launch

        • Please Contact Us if the error persists

           

       

      There was a temporary problem signing in. Please try again...

        • This occurs when there is an error with the cookie and token handling flow thru various backend systems

       

      Unauthorized Modification Detected

        • The RCN2Go app cannot stream content to devices that are jailbroken - or - devices that are running public beta version software
        • Per requirement of CableLabs and the content providers as such system does not guarantee a secure decode environment
        • Use a different device or a computer to stream content
       

      Error 502 when trying to use the app:

        • Error 502 is a generic error that does not suggest a particular issue

        • Simply signing out/in or force quit and re-launch will typically rectify

        • Please Contact Us if the error persists
       

      Any other error

        • There are many other errors that may occur with RCN2Go
        • Please Contact Us if unable to resolve on your own
        • A description of the error, equipment, troubleshooting, operating system or browser, channel, etc. is helpful for prompt resolution 
       

      No RCN2GO international content streaming

        • Content is not available internationally
        • Streaming is limited to the continental US, Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico
        • International distribution rights are held by the content providers
