Parental Control Setup and Use

    • For Series 4 TiVos, go to TiVo Central | Settings & Messages | Settings | Parental Controls

    • For Series 5 TiVos, go to TiVo Central | Settings & Messages | Parental & Purchase Controls

    • For Series 5 Experience 4 TiVos, go to TiVo Central | left arrow to Menu | Settings | Parental & Purchase Controls
 

Change Parental Control PIN

    1. For Series 4 TiVos, go to TiVo Central | Settings & Messages | Parental Controls

      • For Series 5 TiVos, go to TiVo Central | Settings & Messages | Parental & Purchase Controls

      • For Series 5 Experience 4 TiVos, go to TiVo Central | left arrow to Menu | Settings | Parental & Purchase Controls

    2. Choose Change PIN

    3. Enter the existing 4 digit PIN

    4. Enter a new 4 digit PIN, then confirm the PIN

    • Choose Turn On Parental Controls and enter your 4 digit PIN twice

    • Make changes to the settings as needed; once activated, Parental Controls remain on

      • Set rating restrictions for any TV show or Movie

      • Hide adult VOD titles

      • Lock particular channels

    • Special Notes

      • Parental Controls automatically re-lock when the remote is not used within four hours, or if the TiVo is in Standby mode

      • To permanently turn Parental Controls off, choose Turn Off Parental Controls and enter the 4-digit PIN

 

Can't Remember Parental/Purchase Control PIN

    If you forget the Parental Control PIN, chat with an agent or call 1-800-RING-RCN (1-800-746-4726) for assistance
 

Purchase PIN Setup

    1. For Series 4 TiVos go to TiVo Central | Settings & Messages | Purchase Controls

      • For Series 5 TiVos. go to TiVo Central | Settings & Messages | Parental & Purchase Controls

      • For Series 5 Experience 4 TiVos, go to TiVo Central | left arrow to Menu | Settings | Parental & Purchase Controls

    2. Chose Require a PIN to Purchase

    3. Enter a 4 digit Purchase PIN - this can be a different number than the Parental Control PIN
 

Remove Purchase PIN

    1. For Series 4 TiVos go to TiVo Central | Settings & Messages | Purchase Controls

      • For Series 5 TiVos. go to TiVo Central | Settings & Messages | Parental & Purchase Controls

      • For Series 5 Experience 4 TiVos, go to TiVo Central | left arrow to Menu | Settings | Parental & Purchase Controls

    2. Chose Allow Purchases without a PIN 

    3. Enter the original 4 digit Purchase PIN to confirm
 

Change Purchase PIN

    1. For Series 4 TiVos go to TiVo Central | Settings & Messages | Purchase Controls

      • For Series 5 TiVos. go to TiVo Central | Settings & Messages | Parental & Purchase Controls

      • For Series 5 Experience 4 TiVos, go to TiVo Central | left arrow to Menu | Settings | Parental & Purchase Controls

    2. Chose Change PIN 

    3. Enter the original 4 digit Purchase PIN

    4. Enter a new 4 digit PIN, then confirm the PIN
