Tip: To get the best quality video, pay attention to the light in the room. Too much background light will wash the video out. Too much foreground light will wash you out. Experiment with the placement and orientation of your lights. When using video, lighting is everything!
Tip: When you open your Camera's Webcam Control Panel look for the "Auto" and/or "Full Auto" settings. We recommend that you uncheck these settings for optimum video compression. If the lighting in your environment changes, feel free to open the Control Panel again, and re-check the "Auto" and/or "Full Auto" settings. This will adjust the camera to your lighting environment. Once the camera has adjusted to the lighting environment uncheck these boxes to restore video compression.

EMail/Mobile Settings
What is it?
NOTE: RCN Web Journal currently supports only Verizon, Cingular, and Virgin Mobile cellular phone services. Support for other mobile providers coming soon.
So, you're on vacation and click a great candid shot of the family with your mobile phone. If only you could upload that picture to your Journal right then and there.
With Journal's Email/Mobile settings you can! Text, pictures, videos and audio files can be sent to your Journal from your Email Inbox, OR your Mobile Phone!
How Do I Get There?
To Navigate to Email/Mobile
- Press Settings.
- Click Email/Mobile.
Tips and How To's
Step One: Choose a Secret "Mail To" Email Address.
- Press Settings.
- Click Email/Mobile.
- Type a Secret "Mail to" address in the text box next to the name of your Journal.
- Select Activate to turn the remote publishing function on.
- Choose Blog or Gallery from the pull down menu. This will determine the upload location of the files you send to your journal.
- Check the box next to "Send Confirmation..." if you would like to receive a confirmation message that your file has been uploaded to your Journal.
- Press Save. Your Email/Mobile settings will be saved and you are now ready to send to your Journal.

TIP: While your Secret "Mail to" address must be between 6 to 10 characters, some mobile phones limit the number of characters allowed for email address entries, in cell phone address books. Therefore, we suggest choosing a 6 character word for your "Mail to" address.
TIP: Text files cannot be uploaded to your Gallery. The Gallery will only accept, audio, video or picture files. If you choose Gallery as your upload location, all text files will be published under the Blog tab.
Step Two: Program your Mobile Phone.
- In the address book on your Mobile Phone, enter the complete Secret "Mail To" email address you just created in your Journal. Example: MyJournal.secret@vibejournal.com.
- Choose a picture, video or sound file or type a text message.
- Send the file. The file will appear in your Journal in the location you chose on the Email/Mobile Settings page.
TIP: Since long addresses are cumbersome to enter into mobile phones, don't forget to save yours! This way it will always be in your mobile phone.
TIP: For more detailed info on how to use your mobile phone address book, please see the Manufacturers User Manual for your mobile phone or check your cellular service provider's website at:
www.verizon.com
www.cingular.com
www.virginmobile.com
Step Three: Sending from your Email Inbox.
- Type the entire Secret "Mail To" email address in the To field.
- Attach video, audio or picture files. You can attach several files, as Journal will upload multiple files at one time.
- Type the text you want to upload to your Journal.
- Press Send. The files will appear in your Journal in the location you chose on the Email/Mobile Settings page.
Troubleshooting Email/Mobile Publishing
If the files you send don't show up:
- Did you Check the Activate Box next to your Secret "Mail to" address? If this box isn't checked, the email/mobile function won't work.
- Double-check that you entered the complete Secret "Mail to" address correctly. If there are any differences between the address on your Journal Email/Mobile Settings page, and what is entered in your cell phone or your email message, the files you send will not upload to your Journal.
- Make certain you are sending only from a Verizon, Cingular or Virgin Mobile phone, otherwise the files you send may not upload properly.
