Your
DRC/XRC Universal Remote Control will control up to four devices, including
GI/Motorola converters (CFT-220o series, DCT1000 series, DCT2000 series, DCT5000
series), most TVs and VCRs, and auxiliary components.
The DRC/XRC requires two fresh AA batteries and easy programming to
control all of the functions of your Cable Converter, as well as all of the basic function
of your other original remotes.
For best results, please perform all instructions
listed here.
Use the
DRC/XRC mode keys (i,e., AUX, VCR, CABLE,
or TV.) to control a desired device. When pressed, the selected mode key
will light, confirming your choice.
Use the other
keys to perform desired actions.
NOTE: The selected
mode will remain active until another mode key is pressed.
Press AUX, VCR,
CABLE, or TVonce to select a deviceto control.
Press POWER once to turn on or of a select device(TV, VCR,
etc.)
Press HELP once to display the help screen.
Press MUTE once to turn the sound off or on.
Use PAGE or PAGE to page up or down through menu screens and the
program guide
or
Use LOCK to restrict viewing of selected programs.
Use PPV to view the on-screen
PPV menu
Use EXIT to exit menu or guide.
Use INFO to display current channel and program information.
Use directional keys to move the cursor in the program guide and menu screens
or
Use OK/SELECT* to select menu options, PPV
events, and to tune programs from the program guide
Use GUIDE to display the program guide.
Press MENU to display the main menu of the on-screen guide.
In TV or CABLE mode, use VOLUME+
or VOLUME- to raise or lower the sound volume.
Use CHANNEL+ or CHANNEL- to select the next
higher or lower channel.
Use LAST to recall the last channel, or to go back one step
in the on-screen menu.
In the CABLE mode, press FAVORITE once to
display preset favorite cable channels.
These functions are set by your cable operator (RCN currently does not use).
Use the numeric keypad to directly select a channel (e.g., 09 or 31)
Press TV/VCR BYPASS once to switch VCR to TV or tape (not
supported by all applications).
Use the ENTER/MUSIC to display menu of digital music
channels, or to enter channels on some TV models.
In VCR and TV modes, use the STOP,
PAUSE, PLAY, REW., RECORD,
or F.FWD keys to control VCR.
In the CABLE mode, press DAY or DAY once to move the program guide ahead (or back) 24 hours
on the back of the remote, pull down the
battery cover and remove it.
Obtain two (2) fully charged AA alkaline
batteries, and match the + and - marks on the batteries to the + and - on the battery
case, then insert the batteries.
Push the battery cover back into place
Test the unit by pressing POWER and any mode
key (e.g., AUX, VCR, CABLE, or TV). If the batteries are inserted correctly, the selected
mode key will be lit.
NOTE: Removing the batteries WILL
NOT require you to reprogram the remote. A selected mode key will blink two times with
each key press when batteries need replacing.
On the remote, press and hold TV (for at
least 6 seconds) until you see the programming mode start. Each mode key will light up
sequentially, starting with AUX through TV. The sequence
will repeat twice. after it does this, release the TV button and wait
until the button stays lit.
Locate the
code for your TV in setup codes for TV's below. Brands are listed in alphabetical order,
with the most popular codes first. TV Setup Codes
Enter the first four-digit code for your TV. If you have
performed this procedure correctly, the TV light will blink three times. NOTE: if you did not enter
the code correctly, the TV light will turn off. In this case, repeat steps 2-4 again.
Aim the remote Remote at your TV and press POWER
once. The TV should turn off. If it does not respond, repeat steps 2-4, trying each code
listed for your brand until you find the one that operates your TV.If your TV still does
not respond, try searching for Your code (Click HERE).
5. Programming
Your VCR (or TV/VCR Combo) from your DRC/XRC Universal Remote Control
Turn on your VCR (or TV/VCR Combo), and insert a video
cassette.
On the remote, press and hold VCR (for at
least 6 seconds) until you see the programming mode start. Each mode key will light up
sequentially, starting with AUX through TV. The sequence
will repeat twice. after it does this, release the VCR button and wait
until the button stays lit.
Locate the
code for your VCR (or TV/VCR Combo) in setup codes below. Brands are listed in
alphabetical order, with the most popular codes first.
NOTE:
Some TV/VCR Combo codes may require a separate TV code to control volume. Check the codes
above and follow the instructions in the Programming Your TV Control section using the
supplied code. If no TV code is listed for your TV/VCR Combo's operating code, you may
need to use the capabilities of your General Instrument/Motorola converter.
Enter the first four-digit code for your VCR (or TV/VCR

WHEN YOU RECEIVED THIS REMOTE CONTROL, IT WAS ALREADY P[PROGRAMMED TO OPERATE
YOUR GENERAL INSTRUMENTS/MOTOROLA CABLE CONVERTER. HOWEVER, IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO CONTROL A
DBS RECEIVER OR DIFFERENT CABLE CONVERTER, PERFORM THE FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS (OTHERWISE,

On the remote, press and hold CABLE (for at
least 6 seconds) until you see the programming mode start. Each mode key will light up

IF
YOUR TV DOES NOT RESPOND AFTER TRYING ALL OF THE CODES LISTED FOR YOUR BRAND, OR IF YOUR
BRAND IS NOT LISTED AT ALL, TRY SEARCHING FOR YOUR CODE:
Turn on your TV.
On the remote, press and hold TV (for at least 6 seconds)
until you see the programming mode start. Each mode key will light up sequentially,
starting with AUX through TV. The sequence will repeat twice. after it does this, release
the TV button and wait until the button stays lit.
Press the (UP) cursor key on your remote once to start the
search mode.
NOTE: in the search mode, the remote will send IR (infared) codes from it's library to the
selected component, starting with the most popular codes first. When the deviceresponds to
a subsequent key command (e.g., POWER) the correct device code will be found.
Press once. The
TV key will light on, then off, showing that the IR code has been sent.
If your TV does not turn off, press the (UP) cursor key once
again to call up another code. Press once

If your TV does not turn off, repeat step 5 as many times as
needed until the TV turns off.
When the TV turns off, a working code has been found. Press once to save the code and the TV key will blink three
times, confirming the selection.

YOUR VCR DOES NOT RESPOND AFTER TRYING ALL OF THE CODES LISTED FOR YOUR BRAND, OR IF YOUR
BRAND IS NOT LISTED AT ALL, TRY SEARCHING FOR YOUR CODE:
Turn on your VCR, insert a video cassette.
On the remote, press and hold VCR (for at
least 6 seconds) until you see the programming mode start. Each mode key will light up
sequentially, starting with AUX through TV. The sequence
will repeat twice. after it does this, release the VCR button and wait
until the button stays lit.
Press the (UP) cursor key on your remote once to start the
search mode. NOTE: in the search mode,
the remote will send IR (infared) codes from it's library to the VCR, starting with the most popular codes first. When the VCR responds to a subsequent key command (e.g.,
POWER) the correct device code will be found.
Press once. The
TV key will light on, then off, showing that the IR code has been sent.
If your VCR does not turn off, press the (UP) cursor key once
again to call up another code. Press once
again.
If your VCR does not turn off, repeat step 5 as many times
as needed until the VCR turns off.
When the VCR turns off, a working code has been found. Press
once to save the code and the VCR key will blink
three times, confirming the selection.
Test the VCR by pressing PLAY, REW,
F.FWD, and STOP keys to operate your VCR.
If it does not respond, repeat steps 1-7.
IF
YOUR CONVERTER DOES NOT RESPOND AFTER TRYING ALL OF THE CODES LISTED FOR YOUR BRAND, OR IF
YOUR BRAND IS NOT LISTED AT ALL, TRY SEARCHING FOR YOUR CODE:
Turn on your cable converter.
On the remote, press and hold CABLE (for at
least 6 seconds) until you see the programming mode start. Each mode key will light up
sequentially, starting with AUX through CABLE. The
sequence will repeat twice. after it does this, release the CABLE button
and wait until the button stays lit.
Press the (UP) cursor key on your remote once to start the
search mode. NOTE: in the search mode,
the remote will send IR (infared) codes from it's library to the converter, starting with the most popular codes first. When the converter responds to a subsequent key command
(e.g., POWER) the correct device code will be found.
Press once. The
CABLE key will light on, then off, showing that the IR code has been
sent.
If your cable converter does not turn off, press the (UP) cursor key once
again to call up another code. Press once
again.
If your cable converter does not turn off, repeat step 5 as
many times as needed until the cable converter turns off.
When the cable converter turns off, a working code has been
found. Press once to save the code and the CABLE
key will blink three times, confirming the selection.
IF
YOUR AUXILIARY DEVICE DOES NOT RESPOND AFTER TRYING ALL OF THE CODES LISTED FOR YOUR
BRAND, OR IF YOUR BRAND IS NOT LISTED AT ALL, TRY SEARCHING FOR YOUR CODE:
Turn on your auxiliary device.
On the remote, press and hold AUX (for at
least 6 seconds) until you see the programming mode start. Each mode key will light up
sequentially, starting with AUX through TV. The sequence
will repeat twice. after it does this, release the AUX button and wait
until the button stays lit.
Press the (UP) cursor key on your remote once to start the
search mode. NOTE: in the search mode,

Your
remote is set to control the volume of a device through it's associated mode (i.e.,
through the cable converter in CABLE mode, through the TV in TV
mode, and through the auxiary device in AUXmode). If your TV is not remote controllable,
or you would rather the volume be controlled through a different device, you can change
the Volume Lock through a non-associated mode (e.g., through the cable converter in TV
mode).
Changing the volume lock setting to the CABLE
or TV mode will change the volume control fo all models except AUX,
which will continue to control it's own volume. If you change the lock setting in the AUX
mode, all modes (i.e., AUX, CABLE, TV)
wll be controlled by the AUX mode
NOTE: The volume controls will NOT operate if Volume Lock is set to VCR mode.
TO CHANGE THE VOLUME LOCK SETTING TO THE TV MODE:
On the remote, press and hold TV (for at
least 6 seconds) until you see the programming mode start. Each mode key will light up
sequentially, starting with AUX through TV. The sequence
will repeat twice. after it does this, release the TV button and wait
until the button stays lit.
Press and release VOL+ on the remote
The TV key will blink three times, indicating the volume has
been locked in the TV mode.
Now, whenever you press VOL+, VOL-,
or MUTE on the remote, volume will be controlled by your TV.
TO CHANGE THE VOLUME LOCK SETTING TO THE CABLE MODE:
On the remote, press and hold CABLE (for at
least 6 seconds) until you see the programming mode start. Each mode key will light up
sequentially, starting with AUX through TV. The sequence
will repeat twice. after it does this, release the CABLE button and wait
until the button stays lit.
Press and release VOL+ on the remote
The CABLE key will blink three times,
indicating the volume has been locked in the CABLE mode.
Now, whenever you press VOL+, VOL-,
or MUTE on the remote, volume will be controlled by your cable converter.
TO CHANGE THE VOLUME LOCK SETTING TO THE AUX MODE:
On the remote, press and hold AUX (for at
least 6 seconds) until you see the programming mode start. Each mode key will light up
sequentially, starting with AUX through TV. The sequence
will repeat twice. after it does this, release the AUX button and wait
until the button stays lit.
Press and release VOL+ on the remote
The AUX key will blink three times,
indicating the volume has been locked in the AUX mode.
Now, whenever you press VOL+, VOL-,
or MUTE on the remote, volume will be controlled by your auxiliary
device.
TO UNLOCK VOLUME LOCK:
On the remote, press and hold THE MODE KEY YOU WANT
TO UNLOCK (for at least 6 seconds) until you see the programming mode start. Each
mode key will light up sequentially, starting with AUX through TV.
The sequence will repeat twice. after it does this, release the THE MODE KEY YOU
WANT TO UNLOCK and wait until the button stays lit.
Press and release VOL- on the remote
The TV key will blink three times, indicating the volume has
been unlocked for the selcted mode.
Now, whenever you press VOL+, VOL-,
or MUTE on the remote, volume controls will be reset to thier original
device.
A mode key blinks when you press a key, but device does not
respond..
Make sure the remote is aimed at the home entertainment device
and is no more than 15 feet away.
The remote does not conrol device or commands are not working
properly.
Try all listed codes for the device you are haing a problem
with. Additionally, make sure that the device was originally remote control capable (also
must be infared, like the DRC/XRC).
TV/VCR combo does not respond properly.
Use the VCR codes for your brand. Some combo units may require
both a TV and VCR setup for full operation.
